Cervical Health Awareness Month
January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about prevention, screening, and early detection of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer, largely preventable with proper screening and vaccination, remains a significant health concern for women worldwide.
Cervical cancer is primarily caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), a common sexually transmitted infection. Regular screenings, such as Pap tests and HPV tests, can detect precancerous changes in the cervix early when treatment is most effective.
