A learning centre offering low student to adult ratios and a safe, accepting environment.
Nanaimo Learning Centre offers learning for intermediate and advanced students (ages 2.5-19) who face neurological differences such as autism, Downs syndrome, FAS and others that impact learning, in small classrooms and a low 3:1 student to adult ratio to:
- Direct support to accomplish assignments
- Finding tools that help with focus
- Use of positive reinforcements
- Natural consequences
- Encourage inclusiveness
- Develop friendships
- Practice social skills
- Engage in the community
- Practice asking for help and engaging with mentors and peers
The Learning Centre takes part in weekly swimming, weekly trips to the gym and regular field trips around our community and Vancouver Island.
