Loaves & Fishes Food Bank - Nanaimo

Provided by Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank

The food bank program provides food for those in need.
Provides a food hamper every two weeks. A regular hamper provides 2 to 3 days worth of food for each person in the household.

There are also Food 4U Hampers offered six days a week. The size of a Food 4 U Hamper will vary depending upon how much perishable food has come in in the last 24 hours. How much people are able to take from each bin depends on the number of people in the household and the availability that day. These hampers can be picked up at:
  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at Farquhar
  • Tuesday at Alliance Church
  • Friday at Salvation Army Church (8th and Bruce)
  • Saturday at Generations Church

Registration is required to access the food bank. To register bring government issued ID for each person in the household. People without a fixed address are still able to register. Once a household is registered, the person picking up food for the household must present Government Issued ID each time they pick up.

As a means of increasing people’s access to food, Loaves and Fishes is offering a Hamper Delivery service called Hamper 2 Your Home (H2YH) to qualifying clients. Details of program are as follows:
  • Hamper Delivery will be once every 4 weeks. It will resemble 2 regular hampers.
  • Hamper Delivery will be on either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
  • Clients must be home to receive hamper. Clients will be removed from the delivery list if they are not home 3 times.
  • Hamper Delivery is to your door step only. Volunteers may not enter your home.
  • There is a limited number of spaces available for this program. A waiting list is currently being taken.
