Homeless Services - Oceanside Area

Provided by Oceanside Task Force on Homelessness

Provides support and shelter to individuals who are homeless in the Parksville area.
The Oceanside Task Force on Homelessness is an informal collaboration of, currently 15 organizations. The task force offers the following programs:

HOST (Homelessness Outreach Support Team): HOST is able to help access and maintain housing and improve health outcomes. HOST meets weekly or biweekly to triage client needs, provides seven-day-a-week support to clients and assists in communication among agencies to ensure coordinated and informed support is delivered with a client-centered focus. Referrals can be made by any case manager or community agency, and clients are not required to have an Island Health case manager to be a HOST client. The team provides wrap-around supports, which help clients who are experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. Click here for more information.

Orca Place Supportive Housing: Supportive housing in Parksville. Successful applicants must meet local residency and eligibility requirements and be assessed to ensure that their needs can be met through on-site and off-site support. Priority is given to locals who have become homeless or are at risk of homelessness. All residents pay rent and sign a program agreement. Click here for more information.

Cold Weather Shelter: Offers a list of cold weather shelters operating nightly from November 1 to March 31. The shelter accommodates women, men, and families, and provides a hot dinner and breakfast each day. It also serves as a helpful resource for individuals to learn about and connect with other services available in the region. The shelter location is posted online each winter.
