- Non-Insured Health Benefits department ensures full access for Snuneymuxw people to the provincial healthcare system by assisting in registering for available programs and services, including the Inter Tribal Health Authority. The Non-insured health benefits clerk assists with and can arrange medical transportation, including travel subsidies for distant appointments. Email Regan Seward for more information.
- Children and Youth Health Services: Traditional teaching for health and development of children; immunizations; improving diet, prenatal health and breastfeeding; improving diet of infants in their first 12 months; and opportunities for education through peer interaction. - Youth Centre and Programming: SFN community youth are given space and opportunities to engage with peers and learn about health and creative ways to live their best lives at the Snuneymuxw Youth Centre. Includes outdoor activities (sports, games) and indoor activities (games, boxing, movies, art etc.), in addition to trips and activities for youth throughout the year. - Elder's Care: Provides optimum care and resources for Snuneymuxw Elders to encourage continued interactions, assistance in assess required care and services, as well as provides teaching sessions to aid in their journey. Email Kate Good for more information.
- Mental Health: Health and Wellness counsellors support family relationships, grief and loss, substance abuse challenges, and other needs. Call SFN Hulit Lelum (250-740-2337) and ask to speak with a counsellor who will book an appointment based on identified needs
- Substance Use, Harm Reduction and Addictions Support: Specialized counsellor works with you to discuss physical and mental health, ascertain if detox support is required prior to treatment, review treatment options including treatment centres, and then appropriate support is provided while waiting for additional help. Call SFN Hulit Lelum (250-740-2337) and ask to speak with the addiction recovery and support counsellor
Snuneymuxw Hulit Lelum also leads the Snuneymuxw Traditional Medicines Clinic, which shares the power of sacred traditional medicines to address health needs and wellness goals, including through traditional acupuncture treatments (no cost, needle alternatives also offered). Available from Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (closed daily from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) by calling Amy Wyse at 250-740-2323.
