It is a non-medical support service that helps people who have been affected by Acquired Brain Injury, both clients and caregivers. The Navigator Program focuses on identifying and serving the needs of each individual client providing them with a personalized recovery plan based on their goals and linking them to both formal and informal resources in our community.
- Life After Brain Injury Program: This program is a peer education and support program facilitated by a Registered Social Worker. The 8-week program, conducted in eight 90 minute sessions will provide participants with the opportunity to learn the tools to help with the ongoing challenge of rebuilding their lives post acquired brain injury. The program material will be done in a group setting and participants will have the chance to share their experiences with peers while acquiring new skills. Sessions are run 2 times a year with both in person and virtual options. The program is by referral only.
- Brain Injury ID Cards: cards can be a useful tool for people affected by brain injury and can help avoid misunderstandings with police, EMT and ambulance personnel, and others. NBIS Client I.D. cards are available to NBIS Clients upon request at no cost.
-Virtual Client Coffee Drop-In: This program is an informal client drop in group for peer based conversation with one of our welcoming peer volunteers put on once a week over ZOOM. Currently running Tuesdays from 10:00am- 11:15am.
- Caregiver Support Program: These group support sessions for caregivers provide a safe, supportive environment that can offer education, information and resources so that caregivers can feel a bit more confident and supported in their role. The program is by referral only.
- 1-1 Peer Support Program: This program will give individuals in the community affected by brain injury access to 1-1 peer support with our amazing NBIS peer volunteers.
