Ty Watson House - Hospice Palliative Care - Port Alberni

Provided by Alberni Valley Hospice Society

Provides a community hospice, information, emotional and practical support from the time of diagnosis through advanced illness, death, and bereavement. Support is provided for family, friends, and caregivers.
Provides a community hospice for people facing a life-limiting illness but not requiring a hospital admission.

Medical and nursing care is provided by the residents' personal physician and the RN's, LPN's and Community Health Workers (Home Support) from Home and Community Care (HCC). A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and a community health worker (CHW) are on site 24 hours a day and there is 24-hour access to an RN on call.

Also provides therapies to comfort and support any person and/or family living with, or at risk of developing life-threatening illness and are prepared to accept care. The multidisciplinary Hospice Palliative Care Team addresses physical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical issues through all the stages of illness and bereavement, prepare for and manage self-determined life closure and the dying process, and cope with loss and grief during illness and bereavement.

Eligibility:
To be admitted to Ty Watson House you must be registered with Home and Community Care.
If you are not registered, ask your physician to refer you to Home and Community Care or refer yourself by phoning the Central Intake office (see contact below).
