Gold River Youth and Family Counselling

Free and confidential counselling to help youth (aged 13-18) learn and practice new coping strategies to navigate everyday stresses. Offered in Gold River and Tahsis.
The Youth and Family Counselling program helps clients learn and practice techniques to manage everyday stresses, including anxiety and depression. The program aims to include parents/caregivers during counselling because this often results in better communication and less stress. The program also provides assessment, counselling, referral, and follow-up services to youth with complex challenges associated with mental health and/or substance use.
Youth and Family Counsellor can help clients:
- Develop alternate coping strategies (for anxiety, depression, and other life stresses)
- Explore options for substance use (reducing or abstaining)
- Meet physical health needs
- Meet emotional health needs
- Problem solve in a crisis
- Connect with community resources
- Improve relationships
- Improve life skills
- With a referral to detox and residential treatment services
To access this service, email the Youth and Family Counsellor and ask to set up an appointment. Youth can also come to the Health Clinic and ask to connect.
